Quick NCT question

Going for the NCT very soon, couple of questions:

My car has a slightly different number plate than usual, like this:

    422460520.jpg

    will these pass?

Had the car remapped recently, likely to cause any problem with emissions? Any point/need to put petrol additive in the tank to help?

Apart from these 2 things, car has had a major service recently, is serviced regularly and only has around 37k km, so should pass.

    Any opinions welcome

thanks, so above plates would be a fail, however if they included the county name in irish (which mine does) it will be a pass? So no issues with the font being slightly different?

No, plates will be a fail again. I had reg plates with tiny red outline on text, but it had correct IRL mark, and county in Irish, and still failed.

They only pass the exact plates recommended (font and size).

Get yourself a spare set for about €20 odd, stick them on for the test, then when you pass, put your German ones back on again :)

    hi,

You failed because of the red outline..nct specifies black lettering ..I see nothing mentioning font, so I don't see why I would fail..I'll find out in the morning though, and will argue my case if it's a fail.

I failed because the font was slightly different (like yours), and it had a red outline. The tester told me this, both were a fail.

If (and most likely when) you fail, argue your case, it won't make any difference unfortunately.

had my test today and passed:cool:

I cheated though..based on what you said I got a bit worried, so i slapped on a bit of making tape over the gaps in the numbers and coloured them in black with a crayole marker and prayed it wouldnt rain.

It did, and when I got the my plate looked a mess! Gave it a quick clean with some tissue..looked ok but at about 2-3 feet you could see it was covered with tape..anyway, tester didn't take any notice:D
