Name/ country on tri top?

    Hello
I'm taking part in the London duathlon. I'm not an elite, and I have never represented my country (or a club) in the sport, but I was thinking of getting my name and IRL screen printed on my tri top.
I've never done an event of this distance (20/80/10) and just think that it might give me a boost if there are some other Paddys in the crowd (if there is a crowd).
Does this go against any rules/ guidelines? Is it frowned upon? Does it mean I will be expected to be any good? Am I massively overthinking this?
    Thanks

Usually it would just be age groupers who would be wearing the name/country kit so it could look like you are expected to be competing.

I dunno, I wouldn't be keen on wearing name/country unless I had earnt it but really it is up to you. I also guess it doesn't stop people wearing rugby/football jerseys who ahve never represented their country!

If you wanna go for it then why not
It's not like you'll be wearing the official trisuit or anything, so go for it

Good idea, you'll definitely get some extra cheers! Its always a good boost in a race when someone shouts out your name, even though you know you don't know them!

Think I might go with name only- the IRL might create a false expectation amongst the crowd! I'll wait untilI earn the right to represent my country...

Its more a case of being able to afford to represent your country in some events....thinking of the ITU and the ETU long distance tri championships here. AFAIK there are only about 10 max travelling to represent Ireland in the ITU event in Las Vegas. If you want to represent Ireland at AG level then look at www.triathlonireland.com for details of how to do it - its not that difficult for the less popular distances / races. Good luck in London.
