Camping around Lough Owel

I have been down to Lough Owel to swim and loved it (carpark just off the N4). We were thinking of camping for a night near the car park to be able to do a few long swims.

Anyone ever camped around here? There seems to be a field beside the carpark which may hide the tent if there are night visitors.

    Thx

Hi, some friends and I are planning a days fishing in Lough Owel and are planning to camp. Did you ever find a site or end up somewhere else? Cheers

    Hi dasteve82.

No I did not. I was informed by some Mullingar locals that I work with, that the car park is an night attraction for drinkers and I did not chance it.

If you are a group camping you may be ok. Let us know how you get on. It a lovely spot.
