    Hi,

Need some advice here. I recorded myself playing a basic acoustic guitar track using a condenser mic about 8 inches from the 12th fret pointing towards the sound hole. However, when I listen back to it in pro tools I'm getting a "swooshy" sound in the strumming parts, even though I only used one mic and I have it soloed during playback..........it sounds like it's out of phase but how can that be when it's on it's own? Mic placement? Room? Technique?
    Unless I'm just imagining it!
    Thanks.......

It's probably Phase. Or Comb Filter Effect. Happens when a signal is mixed with a delayed version of itself. So, It's the room I'd say. Try Micing slightly closer, and throw a few duvets or pillows around yourself and the mic, on the backs of chairs etc. It should help!

Thanks. That makes sense. I thought I had the room pretty well treated and I'm using a reflection filter around the mic. Maybe I need to hang a few more blankets though.

If you can post an audio example it's much easier to diagnose.
