I sold an item to a guy in Argentina, gave him choice of registered airmail or standard he picked standard and now it hasn't arrived.

He's started a claim on eBay, I have proof of postage and the invoice I issued should I refund the money or should I deal with easy?

    What should I do?

Without tracking, you will lose the claim.

Crazy to send an item to any South American country with or without insurance IMO.

You may not necessarily lose to the buyer .- If the item is low-value it may be a genuine case that the item did not arrive and the buyer has genuinely opened a dispute .

You need to counter-reply with a response outlining the time-frame from when you sent the package and explain that the package needs 15-25 days timespan for delivery from shipping date .

We have had claims with Paypal/eBay , and we have won cases we should have lost and also lost cases we should have won .

So I am sure that Paypal/eBay will review this case , and if there is any sign of a pattern of this buyer claiming non-delivery , etc - it may work out in your favour .

However your proof of postage is worthless as already stated above .

As the buyer has already started a claim , this means that the refunding is now out of your hands , and in the hands of Paypal/eBay.

The buyer looked for refund automatically, so ifi counter respond it will prob end up going to eBay. It's given me the option just to refund straight away

Is that delivery time in working days as it would fit as the item was posted 21st June.

    Thanks for your help

Paypal allow a timespan of 45 days to initiate a claim for non-delivery.

I have seen posters here who have opened claims for non delivery of packages from USA after 5 days .

So it really depends on the buyer , and how patient he will be .

I state 15-25 days above to Argentina , as it still allows the buyer a fortnight to claim if package does not arrive .

There are various reasons why packages can be held up , like .......:
    • incomplete addresses
    • illegible addresses
    • under value postage
    • strict customs
I have sent non-registered packages to South Korea and they have arrived within 14 days without problems
