A great Christian author has passed away. His love for Jesus and exemplary lifestyle were matched by his incisive writing - a great mix of scholarship, commitment to the Bible's truth, allied to clarity and practicality.

If you want to read more about him start here.

If you havent read anything by him, let me encourage you to do so. Depending on where you are at let me recommend:

    Basic Christianity
    The Cross of Christ
Commentaries in the Bible Speaks Today series - especially Romans, Ephesians, Galatians, ah go on they're all good.

Ah, I'm sorry there will be no more gems coming from his pen - but glad for him that he is now enjoying his eternal reward.

John Stott was one of the guiding figures behind the Lausanne movement for World Evangelisation. I was at the 3rd Lausanne Congress last October in Cape Town and Stott was too ill to attend. It was quite a moving moment when a video message was shown from him.

    Obituary here on Christianity Today:

And a local one from the All Souls website:

I went to All Souls once to hear him preach. The place was jammed to the rafters!

Anyone want to recommend favourite books?

I suspect people might some of his commentaries hardish going, but the benefit of reading two pages of him a day, letting him unpack the meaning of scripture, would be immense.

I suppose I posted this here to at least flag up his name to many who may be unfamiliar with him.

I've heard that The Cross of Christ is a powerful read.

I've heard that The Cross of Christ is a powerful read.

Here's an article called "If You Can Only Read One of John Stott’s Books" picking up your recommendation of the Cross of Christ

Great book, to be digested slowly.
