hello, like most people on here im looking at the idea of heading to AUS. I was wondering how would you go about getting into the mining scene? do you just go to the mining regions and ask around or will you have to go threw a recruitment agency?

Most of the mines over here are in western australia. It can be hard to get into them without any experience. What are you hoping to do in the mines? There are certain tickets you can get which may help you get in such as working at heights, confined spaces, ewp, dump truck, first aid. The best way to get a job is to look on seek.com.au or go through an agency. Don't expect to get a job straight away though as they will usually look for minesite experience.

Unless you have contacts in the mining industry you'll have to apply through a recruitment agency. But be warned these jobs are very hard to get because of the numbers of people applying, the jobs in most demand are any engineering discipline ,surveyor, vehicle mechanic or fitter, electrician.

If you dont have any experience in these jobs then your best bet is catering, some of the catering jobs pay about 60k - 80k so theres good coin to be made but expect to work 12h days 14 days straight

There are heaps more im sure but you'll have to find them yourself

Your labour hire company should pay for all the training required for the position
