    Have not worked in Ireland in a few years and got my first payslip this week with USC on it.

    Is this just another tax due to the recession? Can anyone explain it a bit more? Never saw it the last time I worked in Ireland.

    Can you claim it back at the end of the year provided you ain't earned above a certain amount?

    My USC is 20 Euro.
