Student Loan in UK HELP ME!

I am starting a two year MSc in the UK this Sept. Im from the Republic. Luckily there are no fees as it is covered by the NHS. Has anyone out there gone to England to do a postgraduate course and applied for a student bank loan along the way from a Bristish bank? Im a bit desperate for info as Im getting mixed responses to…

Im a bit desperate for info as Im getting mixed responses to this from both my university ( who say aftr six months id be eligable for a professional development loan) and posters on The Student Room who have disputed this.
The thing is I have not heard a first hand account from an Irish graduate yet!
