    hi folks,
Im looking for some help regarding data backup. hopefully someone here may be able to advise.

This what im trying to do:
I currently have 2 external hdd's, one i use thats constantly connected to my pc 90% of the time, and one i keep in a drawer for backup.
when i want to update my 2nd backup drive to what is on the regular use drive, i have to go and look for the new stuff within the last month to copy over.

my question is, Is there an easier way to do this? can i "sync" them in some way to only copy over what is new on the regular one, and trasfer this to the 2nd back up drive automatically?
obviously its extremely time consuming and nearly impossible to remeber what files are new since last month i need to back up.

I hope this is clear :o
    thanks in advance

Synctoy allows you to sync two folders so I'd imagine that you can sort the problem you're having out with this.

Worth a crack anyway, should work for you

Unstoppable copier http://www.roadkil.net/program.php?ProgramID=29 is good for recovering files from corrupted drives, and it has a function that lets you specify you only want newer files, so you will only copy files from the source hd that are newer than those on the destination hard drive.

the easiest one i've found that works reliably is allway sync.

it's got enough configuration options that you can do pretty much any type of sync you want, but it's also simple enough that you can be set up in a couple of minutes.

i use it (i have the pro version) to sync data between my 6tb NAS and a 4x2tb disk eSATA backup drive and it works perfectly, esp. if ou have a shedload of data but only want to sync the difference between the two. it will also replicate file moves and deletions and you can put filters on to avoid backing up certain folders or file types to the secondary drive which is handy.
