Nick Cannon is strutting his stuff all over the Peacock: The America’s Got Talent host has now signed on as a recurring cast member of the new NBC comedy Up All Night, the network confirmed today. (TV Guide first reported the news.) Cannon will play Calvin, a spirited talk show emcee whose popularity irks co-host Ava (Maya Rudolph). In addition, Jennifer Hall (Nip/Tuck, CSI: Miami) will recur as Missy, Ava’s unconfident assistant. Up All Night, which debuts Sept. 14, also stars Christina Applegate and Will Arnett as new parents, with Applegate’s character, Reagan, serving as Ava’s producer.

    :(

Just after watching the first episode. Was very disappointing, not funny at all. Not even sure if the show is meant to be a comedy. Will at least watch another episode but at the moment it is big let down.

Couldn't even sit through the whole episode - Maya Rudolph ruins everything...

It was funnier this week, Arnett and Applegate interact well together. However Maya Rudolph is a scene killer, she is not funny at all. She is really taking away from the show.

The show is improving but Rudolph is preventing this show from being a hit.

Watched 'Bridesmaids' recently (meh!) and while Kristen Wiig is superb as ever... Maya Rudolph is horribly unfunny in that too!

Thought the first episode was actually quite good, but the second was hilarious. This show can only get better IMO.

Didn't really like the first episode but will give it another episode or two to see how it is when it gets into its stride.

3rd episode was great too. Full of laughs - glad it got a pickup full season.

I thought the third episode was brutal, was as bad as the first episode. Maya Rudolph is ruining this show, far too much focus on her. Will Arnett's character is underused, far too much focus on the relationship between Applegate and Rudolph.

Am hoping it gets better but at the moment it is a massive disappointment.

The first was terrible, the second was much better and the third wasn't bad (although Jorma Taccone was under-used)!

Glad it got a full season pickup regardless.

4th episode was good fun.. although scenes with Maya Rudolph still just irked me!

Applegate and Arnett have some great chemistry.. and the writing is very solid.

Is it me or does it have one of the loudest theme tunes in the world? The dialogue is at one level and then these trumpets and drums start blaring. Not good!

Loved the 4th ep, even Rudolph was great! Applegate was amazing though, loved the last scene!

I've only watched ep 1 so far. God did I hate it! I didn't laugh once. Rudolph is highly annoying for sure. Compared to it, ep 1 of Free Agents was great but in the wider scheme of thing it wasn't good either and it's been axed. I'll hold out for a few more eps but so far it's on my personal kill list.

I thought the latest episode was good, even Rudolph was not too enjoying.

Anyone else really enjoying it? Arnett and Applegate play really well off of each other. It has some really funny and lol parts.
Arnett is really good as usual.

Just watched the first episode after seeing this thread and have to say I really enjoyed it!

First series I've warmed to in a long while!
Hope the rest live up to it, this could be a grower!

"I feel like I'm being raped by a sleeping bag!"

First big laugh I've gotten from Ava!

This show had definitely improved over the course of the season. Am really enjoying it at this stage, some great chemistry between Applegate and Arnett. Even Ava at this stage is not too annoying.

I've been enjoying Up All Night. Arnett and Applegate have brilliant chemistry and are entirely believable as being a couple.

The first few epsiodes dragged me in, as a parent myself, I went through alot of the stuff that was happening to them, albiet not as funny when it happened to me. So I could relate alot, but the show seems to have veered away from the tribulations of being a parent, its getting more focused on adults doing funny stuff, and oh yeah, there is a kid.

Gotta love the appearances by the neighbours and Will and Christinas mutterings about them.

It's not a show that i'll go back to in a few years, but enjoyable.

Episode 12 was great.. I'm really enjoying this show!

Anyone know if this is going to be airing over here on the TV? I think I know some people who may like it but aren't so in the know.

This has improved as it went on, it came close to losing me several times early on - the writers still seem to not really have any idea at all what to do with Ava's character, who is like something from a different show entirely.

Arnett and Applegate have something, but it needs to continue improving before it becomes a must-watch for me. I should note I've not gotten round to their post-christmas stuff yet.

The travel episode was pretty funny. Alanis Morissette cameo pretty good!

Still dont know what to make of this show
I feel like each character has yet to become their own,
they momentarily show funny moments but then lose them immediately,
appelgate, arnett and rudplph are all funny in their own right,
together I still dont see the chemistry-hence the introductio of
    secondary characters this season
to be honest this show only fills a void while there's
    nothing else better to watch

Translation = cancelled, if your lead actress quits before the season is shot........c'mon!

    Woah. Didn't see that coming.

I really hope that it is that she wants out and it's not health issues! :(

This news imo seals the shows fate, episode order cut...they'll shot just one multi-cam episode...without Applegate, which seems bizarre and utterly stupid. NBC are idiots....just cancel the damn thing!

Even Applegate knew the show was doomed and jumped ship!

The show is in total shambles now!....Will Arnet wants out, Maya Rudolph is preggers...writing staff looking for new jobs. Good article here on the mess:

In fairness, the concept of the show was around being new parents, that concept was forgotten after the first season and the child is rarely seen.
Still a good show though and sad to see it go.

Christ! I have to hold my hand up here. I praised the writers/runners at the start of season 2 for daring to ditch the status quo and turn the show around on its head completely but I just never expected they were going to make quite the dogs dinner of things that they did. The few eps I saw past S2 premiere were pretty poor. If they left the show as was I've no doubt it'd still be being made, whether it'd be up for renewal is debateable but assuming they continued to the same standard as S1, maybe so.
