Correcting my drive

I'm a beginner golfer I've played par 3 for a while, got golf lessons and am starting to venture out for golf and the bug has really bitten!!

I can hit the ball well with my irons but when I use my driver or woods I get good distance and power in my shot but the ball always flys way right and more often than not onto another fairway or into the trees.

I know it's difficult to advise without seeing me play but if anyone has any tips or advice in trying to correct my swing I (and my playing partners) would greatly appreciate it!!

One lesson with a pro would sort it out.

Do what Keano says but in the meantime if you want to try something then try standing further away from the ball.
With shorter clubs your hands may hang below your chin - with the driver try getting your hands hanging outside the top of your head (from above if you know what I mean)
Give it a try it might help.
Oh and go see your local professional :D

Slice is caused by cutting across the ball(Out to in)

    A couple of things:
    • Don't try and break the ball-tempo is everything
    • Make sure to finish off your swing
    • Practice by bringing the club straight back from the ball, you can do this by putting your driver head cover where you don't want your club to go
    • Go to a pro :D:D

    Good God

No, one lesson will not sort it out. A lesson with a pro "may" highlight the faults with your swing and they could tell you how to fix those faults. YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK ON WHAT THEY TELL YOU (provided it is good advise) IN ORDER TO SORT OUT THE SLICE. If you are anyway athletic and have good coordination it may be easier for youself but it will require you to put some time in.

Had the same problem when I started. My issue was my grip was too strong. Pro loosened up and that sorted the issue and never had a prob since. A lesson will point you in the right direction

Not an expert by any means but will let you know what works for me...

If I need to be accurate with my drive.... then I move the ball about 2 inches to the right ( so it is about 2 inches to the right of my left heel)... also tee it slightly lower... grip down the shaft about 1 inch... limit the backswing... ie do not bring the shaft all the way back to horizontal and keep thinking "swing" not "hit"..
