    Hi

I am finished my higher degree in Transport Management and Technology in CIT and I want to get a graduate transport management job and I have applied to most places and got nothing... It getting very frustrating now I am qualified and cant get a job because they need experience which I haven't got and cant get...I understand this is common in Ireland at the minute.

I have even offered to work in some places for free but this doesn't help...

Has anyone any advice as moving abroad is not an option for me?

    Thanks

Things are not good for people such as yourself in Ireland right now.

However the Government's "Internship" scheme may provide some slight relief, albeit at a low rate of pay.

I would suggest contacting the larger Transport entities such as CIE or An Post to enquire if they are signed up to it ?

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Might be an idea to join or get in contact with Rail Users Ireland - they might have some contacts or insight into the likelihood of hiring.

I think the difficulty from your point of view is that transport is a largely State endeavour in this country and given the current economic situation positions may rarely come open.

transport does include freight, not just passengers and that's nearly 100% privately operated... could be options there

What exactly does "transport management" as a degree entail? Would it qualify you to run a bus depot, or is it strategic planning orientated or something else?

I would be looking after drivers, route planning, tachographs, etc etc It also covers fleet management and logistics management...
