Hi guys, I'm just wondering if anyone has used a foam roller for IT band issues. I'm looking to buy one and am just wondering if a short one will do me for this particular problem.

    Thanks.

    Hi Mr abbey,

If it is only for IT Band issues a short one should suffice.

    The Grid would be suitable.

They arn't cheap, I think I paid €50, but they will outlast a standard foam roller so you will save in the long run.

    Hope this helps,
    Dev

Would it outlast 5 foam rollers? http://www.amazon.co.uk/66Fit-Elite-Foam-Roller--Blue/dp/B002IKO2YU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311757808&sr=8-1

Thats the one I have and I can't see any improvement coming from having a grid design on it. Don't have it long though so not sure how it will last.

I found the foam rollers , if you are using them regularly, go soft very quickly in the middle which renders them pretty much useless. Went through two of them before getting one of the trigger point rollers products, which are pretty slick as they fit easily in a travel bag. Worth the extra money IMO, even if they do make you cry on a regular basis.

The answer is Yes. I got the grid about a year ago after going through 2 'standard' fom rollers in about 9 months. The Grid is so much better and you can tell it will literally last forever.

Grid rollers are no better than ordinary foam rollers if you get a good quality one.

Get a black one if you can - they're more like rolling your muscles over a rounded, polished piece of concrete, doesn't make a difference whether you get the long one or the short one. The long ones are probably harder to use actually, they're fairly awkward.

From what I understand foam rollers soften over time. The Grid is basically a piece of Wavin piping with foam wrapped around it; practically indestructable.

TBH, I don't notice a difference between using the different grid designs and don't pay any attention to them.

I used it before a race recently and two friends of mine, both physios, were highly impressed with The Grid, compared to standard foam rollers.

(Dislcaimer: I do not own shares in The Grid, all I know is that it has worked excellently for me)

Once you go black you never go back eh RQ :p

The Grid is the only roller worth investing in. All my EVA foam rollers are dead.
