    Hi

Im emigrating in Oct, current tv licence expires end of July, I dont know why I should pay €160 for 3 months ( the tv set will be going to my parents when I move).

I emailed An Post to ask them if there is a shorter term licence I could get which I wud be happy to pay until I go, but they say under current legislation there is no provision for a short term licence, so basicly €160 please!

Why dont they do something like they do for car tax were u buy 3, 6, or 12 months depending on your finances.

Tv licences are money for old rope at this stage and should be abolished!

    Lizley (seriously peeved)

Here in Finland, it's possible to do exactly what you're suggesting; pay quarterly.

Options... just don't pay it or get rid of your tv when it expires.

I wasnt aware that you can pay it monthly? Do I set up a direct debit with An Post or what, cos if thats the case I can just cancel it before I go.. screw em!

Have you not seen any of the TV license ads? They have some great ideas for excuses to give the inspector! :D

    1. Your emigrating don't worry about it, you have other things to think about.
    2. If you really want to pay the 3 months the savings stamps option might be best.

Good Luck with your new life.
