So I'm taking a years leave from my current job to try out a new career and I just wanted to know what form will I have to give my new employers since I wont be getting a p45 from my current employers?

Do I have to give them a certificate for tax credits and get my tax credits transferred to my new employer or something like that?

    Thanks.

    Hi

What do you mean by you wont be getting a P45 from your current employers. Will you not be ceasing your employment with them?

Otherwise just give them your pps number and current address and they shoudl be able to apply for a tax credit certificate for you.

    Kind Regards

If you intend to return to work with your employer , there is no need to receive a P45.

They will give you a P60 as normal at year end .

You could ask them for a statement of earnings , and give this document to your new employers . Then they can update your current payroll status .

Apply for a tax credit cert for your new employer . - This will be issued by the tax office on a week 1 basis , meaning that your earnings with your previous employer will not accumulate , and you will receive weekly stand-alone tax credits from now until year end .

I'm taking a leave of absence to put it correctly but ill still be "employed" by the company. I presume therefore that i wont get a p45.

    Thanks for the replies.

    Hi

As Althedoyles said if you dont get a p45 from the previous employer you will be on week one basis.

You just need to give the new enployer your pps number and address. They file a p46 to get a tax credit certificate for you. You could then arrange to have the tax credits transfered to your new employment later on.

    Kind Regards
