I think you'll find this attitude in a lot of towns outside Ireland too.

You won't find many people named Hitler either.. a bad name's a bad name.

No offence but if that's the attitude in your town i'd move.

    Moving > commuting

Although you've just had a big move you might be stuck financially, in the long run I would move.

thats sounds aweful for people to be so old school in thier ways. does the bible not say let not the sins of the father pass to the son? or some rubbish like that.

god for people to be so bad at him after death even, was he the local priest or something? :D

I feel sorry for you OP, especially moving from a liberal place like London to some backwater in rural Ireland. If you can move then I would say do so. If you can't then get your own back- plenty of bars for lease these days at knockdown rates. Compete with them, show the locals you are a good person and it won't be long before they are kicking themselves for not hiring you and the benefits of your years of experience of running pubs.

Not surprising considering the number of people in the Dail and on councils because they are related to the previous occupant. NO meritocracy here!

I agree with X in the city name and shame, but i would move your worth a lot more than small minded people like that and im sure you dont want your kids growing up in a narrow minded place like that no offence i know its your home town :rolleyes:

Did this actually happen? So, one person said this to you and you actually think that's it, you'll never get a job. You're going to give up that easily? Don't let people that get you down.
