Roundabouts

    just back from France and one impression I was left with was that they love their roundabouts, even in rural areas, small villages etc. they are everywhere. Go to Germany and roundabouts are not common. Are there any distinct advantages or disadvantages either way (cost/safety etc) or are they the equivalent of road fashion statements.
    As a user I got a bit fed up of them as I seemed to be always at the whim of other drivers indicating or not.

    Yes, the French definitely love their roundabouts.
    They save on traffic lights, and more importantly they make junctions, particularly rural ones of busy roads, much safer as they eliminate the opportunity for high speed tee-bone, head-on and rear-end crashes (involving vehicles waiting to turn left (right here in RHD land)) which so often have resulted in fatalities here.
    IMHO, their 'inconvenience' is a small price to pay for the added safety.

    Also, the presentation is class! :) - I remember the first presentation of our T21 - IMO, it left a lot to be desired! :(

    Wow that looks class! looks like a joy to drive too. I can't see why we cant adapt that for dunkettle. An extra slip for the tunnel mgnt building and little island and bob's your teapot. Railway would flow right threw it.
