I just did a fresh install of Lion into my SSD drive. However, I have an iTunes xml file on a time machine backup which I need. When I browse via time machine it says I don't have permission to get into the music folder. Any ideas?

Are you able to change the permissions on the 'Sharing and Permissions' attributes of the folder?

    Highlight folder.

    > Ctrl and click

    > Get Info

    > Sharing and Permissions

Also, have you got permission to access other folders in the Time Machine Back Up?

ctrly click on drive, get info, check the box for ignore permissions on this drive. off you go copy it. if it still doesn't copy, likely a problem with the file

I had to restore the entire folder and then change permissions.
