AFAIK for the rest of the summer they're using an A330 instead of the 763

IIRC the A330 is due to stay on the Dublin-Atlanta route until August 31st.

    Probably Aer Lingus themselves.

My wife has used that service (Delta Dub-Atl on 767) and has also flown transatlantic with Continental. She would recommend Delta, bigger aircraft than Continental who use a 737-800 and free wine with Delta (hoorah!)

Did this flight recently and was not expecting much but was quiet surprised

The food and drink service was above average

The size and comfort of my seat were no worse than Aer Lingus

The flight attendants were polite and attentive

They had T.Vs (but not the lcd screen infront of you with a choice)that showed movies with free ear phones supplied

Don't let O'Leary know this, might give him some ideas. :)

The Delta A330-300 was planned to operate until end of August but then that was extended until 29 october but they then changed it back to August.

that sucks, the A330-300 looks a lot better than the 767-300 in terms of IFE

    ah well

According to a Boardsies blog here:http://notam-ireland.blogspot.com/,the inbound 176,and hence the outbound 177,have been A330 for the whole of July.

ok so delta dub - atl aircraft is changing from a330 to b767 from wednesday onwards

whats the chances of equipment change? im flying out on sat and would much rather the a330 than the old 767, grrr

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,803 ✭✭✭✭Jamie2k9

once the A330 comes off the route thats it. It wont change so it will be a B767

    another question:

do they generally use the same aircraft on these routes or do they switch them all the time

i see that the 767 that arrived today for the ATL-DUB route is tail N1608

having checked google images i notice that this AC has winglets (this means its one of the recently refurbished delta 763 which has AVOD)

hopefully they keep this exact AC on the route between dub and atl, anyone know if this is a possibility or do they switch the actual AC on a daily basis?

when i worked in airport, i know that continental would have different tail numbers every day despite being 767s

I flew on that route at least a year back and the outbound 763 was not upgraded and had shared video whereas the inbound flight did have the upgraded IFE. I had been checking the aircraft being used for each flight for the preceding weeks and it was completely inconsistent so there is no guarantee what aircraft you will get.

When I worked in the states I really hated flying delta

EDIT: hated flying with them transatlantic.

I have flown with Delta to Cancun via Atlanta a good few times, each time it was the B767 and they had the AVOD. I have also used Continental Via Newark and I have to admit that Delta was much better.

Flew with them last year on their 763, Was good, They had the screens on the seats so it was fine. Service was great and being on the 763 it didn't feel to over crowded. Much better choice than flying with US or United (as they are now known as). not as good as Aer Lingus or American but considerably cheaper.

Still technically called 'Continental' until the single operating certificate is issued/published.

But I'm sure many non-US pax get confused as they buy CO tickets, follow the CO announcements and see a UNITED aircraft at the gate. (I am assuming that US may be more aware of the UA/CO merger)

My bad, Just thought it had changed already, flew with them 2 weeks ago and we were issued United tag's for our luggage.

i was misinformed, even if the Delta 767-300 has winglets, it doesnt mean that it has AVOD

flew on delta to atl 767-300 with winglets and only had overhead tvs

service was decent - free booze but thats about it

Of all the transatlantic carriers I've flown with Ireland - US, I have to say that Aer Lingus are the best. The US carriers mostly use crappy old aircraft and the cabin crew aren't as friendly as Shamrock!
