Sorry for putting this in the wrong forum but just want a quick reply as im thinking of phoning the gaurds. Sales people called to the door first claiming to be from eircom offering us a discount. Took a few details of the girlfriend and then I heard them asking for bank details so I went out and asked them why they needed them when we are already with eircom. She then said she was with vodaphone and showed us a badge and says vodaphone are offering this service in conjunction with eircom. We would be with vodaphone but all services would still go through eircom. Is this legit? I rang vodaphone and they said they have no dealings with eircom. Anyone had these call to the doors?

By the sounds of things, I would be calling the Gardi to be honest.
Better safe than sorry. Just say that there is some suspicious folk going around gathering bank details off people at the doors!
If there was such a big deal between Eircom and Vodafone - and it would be a big thing - it would be well advertised.
    Sounds fishy to me.

Sometimes if something sounds too good to be true - it is!

yea im thinking maybe she was just working for vodaphone and just lied to make a sale. when i went out and questioned her she said eircom would be getting 60% of the sales so thats why they were doing it. sounded very fishy

Moved from Eircom to Vodafone. After all the hype about the supposed benefits of such a move, I'm not looking forward to the move from Purgatory to Hell.

PS: Report them to the Garda (correct collective short-form for the entire force, An Garda Síochána - "gardaí" is incorrect, meaning more than one individual garda).

As a rule (which I do not break) I do NOT give out any of my details to anyone at the door.
Be it bank details or even my date of birth, etc. Nope sorry. No way.
Don't care if your selling gold bars at 50% discount - your not getting my details at my doorstep.
Point me to your business office and/or shop and I'll drop in and check ye out - otherwise bugger off door-sales people.

No. We just changed, and to be honest you might as well be dealing with Eircom because if there's a problem with the line Vodafone has to contact Eircom to fix it. I appreciate this is not your issue, so I suggest you contact the Garda and report this to them.

I've often had people call to me about switchovers but now one about a unknown deal between Eircom and Vodafone???
    Something don't sense right!
I sometimes tell the folk at my door "fine, give me some of your printed literature and let me read it in my own time"
Some or should I say most, don't have the paperwork to give you to keep, to back up their sales pitch - I wonder why!
...And if they don't have the material to back up their claims - sales talk that I can study, bye-bye... good luck... please sod off!

Possibly why she (or some - NOT all) got the job. Employers know the physiology of sales tactics and use it well as possible to their advantage.
