Was in Tesco (Carrick-on-Shannon) today and they have these TVs for €549, reduced from €699.
    The model no is 42HL833B.

Also spotted Acer emachine laptop E732Z for €299, 3GB ram, 320GB HDD, Win7.

Did a quick search, and you can get the same set from Amazon for £417 delivered.

The LG penguinman mentions is a good choice if you want saorview.

Keep in mind that some of the cheaper tvs (such as that LG model) are 50hz, while others more expensive ones tend to be 100hz.

I am not sure how noticeable the difference in picture quality is between 50 and 100 hz.

It's not picture quality per se.

100hz makes a big difference, especially on fast moving pictures.
If you're used to 100hz, you'd never go back to 50hz.
