Rifle advice

Hi lads I'm looking into getting a .22. I'm thinking a .22 wmr would be better than a .22lr would I be right in thinking that? I mainly want it for target shooting and the odd bit of hunting. Also what would you recommend for this a bolt action or a semi auto? Thanks for the advice.

For what you want a bolt action in .22lr and a CZ452 would be ideal

+1 with bunny. As I said in another thread last week,a cz452 with a decent scope and SAK mod can be got second hand for 500 quid no bother. Good luck;)

I was thinking of the cz 455 .22lr anitially ( apolagies for the bad spelling) which works out at 580 including scope. The semi auto is 575 and it's a remington its a wmr with a nikon scope it's second hand but in perfect condition.

Nobody shoots targets these days with .22 Mag

I "assume" you mean shooting in a Rifle club when you say shooting targets.

For Shooting paper ' 50 amd 100 yards .22lr will do what you want.
The odd bit of "hunting" rabbits or corvids the .22lr is fine also.

.22 LR is diffinately the way to go.Make sure its a bolt action.There are so many different .22 bullets out there..22 Flobert .22 shorts .22 subsonic .22 high velosity .22 hyper velosity. you will never be bored.

i second bunny on the 22lr in a cz 452 had the 22wmr in a savage brilliant gun but a bit pricey on ammo so i changed it for a cz and i love it it came fully equiped and very accurate but the best part is ammo is cheap as chips

Just a couple of euro more expensive than the 22lr ( depends where you go really ). I don't know would it not be worth it for that extra knock down ability and range? Cheers

if your plannin on doin alot of target shooting and entering comps i think ok can just use 22lr?

Thanks again for all the advice. I'm gonna go for the .22lr. I've picked out a rifle 2day it's a cz 455 .22lr silhouette. The ammo for the wmr was like 16 euro a box. For 18 euro Id have 3 boxex of lr ammo. cheers lads.

Good choice Alan. You will not regret it.

Now you'll be able to put a few thousand rounds downrange and get a feel for the sport.

The 22lr is a fundamental, a shooting basic. I will always have a few around.
