Fas scheme and disability allowance.

I have been on disability allowance due to hospitalisation for over a year. My allowance runs out in a month or so and have been advised of this. I have just been offered a fas employment scheme with a local enterprise for a year. The work consists of 19.5 hours per week. They told me that I would need to apply to social welfare for an exemption certificate.
Has anyone any ideas about how many hours one can work while getting benefit. And if I will continue to get benefit for the scheme. Any information appreciated as I cannot get much from Social Welfare. :o

Disability allowance doesn't run out. It may be stopped because you are now fit for work? More likely that you have been on Illness Benefit and your stamps are running out? If you are on illness benefit and you want to work or do a course, you need to get permission from the Dept. first. Best thing is to get a letter from your GP stating that in his opinion this course/work would be rehabilitative for you. include a copy of the letter in your written application for permission to work. The work/course can be no longer than 20 hours per week.
