Buying an ipad while travelling

    Hi All,

I'm going abroad for a few months, and was planning on bringing my netbook, however I've now decided to pick up an ipad in Singapore (didn't realise it would be over €100 cheaper!).
My question is, if I dont have my laptop with itunes with me to sync it when I buy it, will the ipad work while I'm away? I know I had to sync my iphones to get them to work so wondering if the ipad is the same? Not much point in carrying both on the trip!!

    Thanks
    Starfish12

no it wont work until it's connected to itunes, with IOS 5 ya wont have to do that though, ask where ever you buy it to activate it for you

iOS 5 is RUMOURED to be out around September 5th, and that would require no iTunes sync. So if you were going after September then you might be ok. Only thing is they might not ship iPad 2 with iOS 5 for a while after release. And if stores have a build up of iPad 2 stock then again it it would be even longer.

Bought an iPad today while on holiday in Florida and they activated it for me in store.
