    Lads,
As the header describes what are the best stores in your opinion for walking around with the best selection of gear to suit all interests. The cabelas or bass pro of IE/UK if you will.....

Is there any? All the ones I've been too here and the UK are not that big, more like sweet shops where you can go in and look behind the counter :( some of the gun shops wouldn't even let you into the vault but they bring the firearms to you, which really puts me off. I usually go to CG hobbies in Lexlip as they have friendly staff and let me know of upcoming deals. Mc Carthys and Sons in Kildare also have a good few things to look at but abit steep in price. For me eBay is the only place which has a good selection.Always wonder why Cabals haven't ventured to Europe yet or even have a warehouse for European sales, I think they would make a killing.

I've been to Cabalas in Neveda, Alaska, Montana and Chicago and there like IKEA for hunting folks, stuff you wouldn't of thought to be made was there, the deals in cabalas are unbelievable. Ammo prices are Sooooooo cheap used to get slabs of 500 shotgun shells for 20$, 1000 rounds of .308 ammo for $200. Don't get me started on the prices of firearms :(

There a fishing/shooting shop in Newry also that I venture into when I'm going north, forget the name but it's down near the brass monkey pub. Very goood selection.

No where as such in the Leinster area. Most places in this country are like a lucky dip, you wont know what they have untill ya go into the shop and at that you have to ask to see what is under/behind the counter. In this day and age with Facebook and free site hosts they should be able to take a digital camera and upload what stock they have with prices, but I suppose its too much to ask since a lot wont even return a phone call. I think they dont want the buisness.

that shop in newrey is called smyths lad, was there over the weekend, its a big place but he didn't have much in fairness it was really spread out and not alot of hunting stuff. Loads of fishing gear tho! Shotgun ammo more expensive than prosperous too. Good thing about mccarthys is the longer you buy off them the more they bring the price down they are sound like that i find.
Went into that fishin and shootin shop in Lucas when i was lookin for my shot gun and to buy ammo for the rifle, he wouldn't even show me what he had!! That was the end of that conversation and i left the rifle ammo there too and went else where

Have been in Sportsmans Gun Centre in Devon UK. Biggest store I've seen anyway.

Good range of firearms which you're free to look at. Very friendly staff with a helpful attitude. Not really fair to compare it with Irish shops as it's on a larger scale.

Of the US stores you've visited were any of them better than the next & access wise which would be handiest if one were to fly to say the nearest major airport...

Target isn't great IMO it's just a few things. GM in Texas is good just outside Huston, GM is the new and up and coming Cabalas, there getting bigger and moving west from just mainly being on the east coast and middle of the states.

I find Wal-Mart has a wide variety of items, it just depends were there located. The more out of the cities and more into redneck places you get, is where the better gear is. I still have 8 yr old jackets and cammo bibs that have been in swamps, deserts and still they still are great to wear.

As for Cabalas locations , for me Nevada is the easiest to get too. I usually fly into SFO rent a car and drive. The roads in the states are just built for going straight for long distances :D I usually visit friends and family on the way so its easier for me to do a 2000 miles loop :D back to the airport. By the time I get out of little Vegas I.e RENO I have alot more money to maybe turn back and buy somemore gear LOL

I usually ship my gear home in boxes, just take all the tags off and stick a note in each box with something like " John Doe you forgot your clothes" hope they get to u. Just incase customs catch it here, last time I had to go to the customs I told them I lived in the states and had my ex ship my gear LOL they knew it was new but couldn't do anything because of the note and personal items on the box.

I was in Cabellas in Buda (BoooDa) Tx outside of Austin and it was as big as Tesco Extra here, bigger even.
In house restaurant serving Game, I had buffalo and Elk subs.
An in house Aquarium, a kids corner,
And every type of Gun and Fishing gear you could think of.

The section on Black powder alone was as big as some RFD's are here

It's a great experience alright, what I find the best is all the trophies on the wall and the stuffed animals they have throughout the shops. Very kid friendly as well. Most of the Cabals will have a indoor archey range as well, theres some not all have a firing range with try before you buy which is crazy. Spent several hours firing hand guns and rifles without even buying, I ask the fello who was helping us and he said they have no problem with letting people doing it, most people will return within hours or days to buy the firearm and other items.

They gave me the creme del la creme Tour when I was there, I was their with two Yanks and they told the guy I was from I-R-Land and that we don't have guns so much.

Lord Mary I was on a soft Horn when I was handed an Armalite .5BMG and I could have left the store for $3500 especially when I had a Gold card at the time and a US address of a Gal pal too :D

The Bargin Cave on a Sunday was great too.
Target I got a lot of stuff that Cabellas did not carry. Cabellas did a lot of own brand stuff, where target had Truglo stuff andwas more like Eurospar (stuff different than Tesco, but still good)
