    Hi All,
I am currently writting a textbook and we want to include images of buildings of Ireland including heritage and modern sites. The book is mostly based on residential buildings but buildings of importance would be of interest also.

In a bid to make the textbook as inexpensive as possible for the student I was going to take the images myself, I have spoken to one place and they said i would have to sign an indemnity form and would have to have insurance. Just wondering what type of insurance that would be and how much it may cost. Also any restrictions you think may arise with copywrite.

Also I am looking for your suggestions for buildings of interest in Ireland, I have already made a list such as GPO, Newgrange passage tomb, Clonmacnoise, Rock of Cashel, Pery Square limerick, Muckross House Killarney

Also looking for good example of traditional thatched cottages in Ireland, Adare has lovely ones, but looking other suggestions.

Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance for any help!

If you're doing Newgrange, then there's a couple of nice thatched cottages in Trim - as well of course as Trim Castle. However the OPW will have issues with you using images of such sites for commercial purposes - regardless of how much you're selling the book for.

You can get pictures of Newgrange from public property so fair game, have a look at Marino Casino too

Thanks for the replies, was talking to the OPW and they want me to have indemnity insurance and sign some indemnity contract thing. They did offer tho that there is some digital library of the images some place that i may be able to use. I would just prefer to have my own images that I have taken so I don't need to worry about any copyright infringement.

Thanks again for the input, Any other ideas greatfully accepted!

There are two fine examples of two story thatched houses out towards Skryne/Rathfeigh. The first is at Trevet, on the Ratoath/Skryne road. It was refurbished to it's former glory a few years ago. The other is next to Rathfeigh Church. There's also one on the Dunshaughlin to Ratoath road.

camerainsurance.ie can quote you on indemnity insurance, if you need it.
