Hi I would like to update my ROM from 2.2 to 2.3 in my HTC HD desire. What is the best way of going about this?

If I was to back up everything first, whats the best way of doing that? can I just plug it into a PC and copy everything all folders inside the drive when it appears on the My computer window?

Where can I get 2.3 Ginderbread?

could I get someone here to give me step by step instructions of what tod do?

    Thanks.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten an over the air (OTA) update by now. What network are you with?

If you go to Settings > About Phone > System Software Update, does it give you any options?

To the best of my knowledge, an official OTA update will preserve your data and phone settings, you won't need to wipe anything. Although maybe someone with experience of Desire HD can confirm that.

I found a link on one of the meteor forums, It was a link to the HTC internet chat-room. I couldnt find that link here for you now but I will post it here once i find it.

Best bet, go on the HTC website and click on the chat room option they have on the webpage. You will get connected to a HTC specialists. Once the specialist gets connected with you,and once you tell him you need the 2.3 android update, he will ask you for your device serial number and your contact number with the international prefix (i.e. +353871234567) Seconds later I had the update on my phone and clicked on download with the wifi on and that was it.
