    Hi all,
I'm new to this and was wondering if anyone else has been caught out by any provider as I have been:eek:
I am with vodafone and have an i phone 3gs. My partner is away so we are texting regularly. A few months ago I noticed that even though I was only composing messages with 320 characters I was being charged for 3 messages...
I spoke to vodafone and they said it was an error on their behalf and to only send 319 characters.. and they would credit me the excess charges...
Ive been doing this for the last couple of months and am still getting charges 3 texts...
After a lengthy conversation and several phonecalls, Ive now been advised its a software fault and that the phone needs to be sent away. I suggested some kind of compensation for time and also for the extra texts.... but was told bluntly NO. Also the promise of a text refund has never been honoured...

I look forward to seeing if Im the only person who feels ripped off or are there others??

Are you using special characters in the message, such as in an Irish name? As soon as you put in an á, é, í, ó, ú, etc, the message character limit drops from 160 to 70.

You sure about that? I've never found it.

Some special characters may count as two characters
