    Hi folks,

Doing the 20k Breffni Challenge this weekend from Cavan to Arva. Looking for some information. Website seems a little short on detail and the only Contact telephone number is a 6 digit dublin number (i.e. incorrect). I have the sponsorship card and I got some money raised, but not clear on the following:

Where exactly are the runners departing from in Cavan?

Are there any water stations on the route for the runners?

What do I need on the day to enter? Do I need proof of sponsorship? or can I just turn up in Cavan and off I go?

    Thanks,
    Muppet Man

    Got a reply from ogranisers:

Runners are leaving at 2pm sharp
4 official waterstations on the route for runners
Proof of sponsorship would be best otherwise you may be asked for €50 registration fee

Registration at Meadow View Lounge, Cavan from 12 noon ~ start time 2pm

    Cheers!

I'm also doing this run, this will be my third year.

I'm not much of a runner but I train for this run in particular during the close season (rugby).

The race starts from the car park of the meadow view and heads out to the By pass towards ballinagh, then in ballinagh its the 'low road' to arva.

As you probably saw from the website, you can also cycle, walk or do it via horse back. From my 2 previous runs they let the people with horses and cycling go first and then the runners. Its mostly a bit of fun but some locals who take their running serious usually get let go next folowed by the rest of us ipod joggers. It never starts on time so dont expect to start till 2.20pm or even later.

Probably worth pointing out that the race isnt actually 20K (although thats what its always be advertised as), its actually closer to 22k - only in Cavan eh.

Regarding sponsership... for the last 2 years me and my mates/brothers have just turned up on the day and gave them 30, 40, 50 quid from our own pockets on a sponsership card on the morning of the race and no-one has ever had a problem with this.

The road from ballinagh to Arva is pretty tough... the last 6-7 KM are just one rolling hill after another .. can be pretty exhausting.
