Keep buying cheapy eBay ones until one works?

Seriously, USB hubs are very basic; if you pay more than 8 euro you've been had.

Tesco's ones work fine probably. Or get one in a 2-Euro shop, and bring it back if it doesn't work.

I've not had problems with cheapy ones (but only new to Mac in case that makes a difference), but I do get ones that have their own power source.
