Information on grant renewal..really really need advice

I received the full grant last year- it was around 3,000 euro.

It was based on 2010 due to my parents loosing their jobs. I was sent a grant renewal form a few weeks ago and when I rang the grant office they told me it would be based on 2010 again so I assumed I would definitely get the same amount again.

However, I just read about them changing the distance you have to live away from the college. I looked it up and my college is exactly 24 km from where I live.

Does the change effect me? I'm really really worried. I havn't sent in my application yet as I'm just waiting on an updated letter from social welfare.

yeah you have to be 45km from the college now

ya i heard they changed as i was checking my grant up too.
If yer only 24km well then that grant is toast i'm afraid. Get a student loan and pay it back when your earning sure. Thats what everyone is doing now.

Hi your grat is not gone completely. You will get the adjacent rate which is 1250 for the year and the redg fee is also paid for you which is 2000 this year.

Yes the adjacent rate has been changed from 24 km to 45 km so your grant will probably be reduced
