Keeping a Non NCT'ed Car Insured

    My cars NCT and tax are due at the end of August. My insurance is up at the end of February.

    Will I lose my NCB if I cancel my insurance while waiting to get my new car?

    Is it possible/legal to keep my insurance on my current car while waiting to buy my new car?

    Can I put my insurance on 'hold' while waiting to get my new car?

    Once NCT and tax have lapsed the car won't be driven.

    If you cancel it now you'll lose the current years worth

    Yes, if you are going to own the car for the period.

    Can I put my insurance on 'hold' while waiting to get my new car?

    Yes, but your current car won't be insured against theft etc.
