    Ireland Celts

    International Dodgeball Team

    Dodgy Internationals Land in Belfast

The UK Dodgeball Association is pleased to announce that the first UKDBA Home Nations Dodgeball Tournament is taking place in Belfast on 21st August 2011.

The tournament is being held at Queen’s Physical Education Centre, Botanic Park. Teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be travelling in to take on Northern Ireland’s National Dodgeball Team, the N. I. Knights.

England Lions are the reigning European Champions but the Knights will be looking to upset the form book and make home advantage count. Northern Ireland know it will be a big ask to win the tournament but they expect experience gained at their first international tournament, European Championship last September, will prepare them for this top level Dodgeball event. Scotland Highlanders and Wales Dragons will also be trying to upset England.

This tournament will also see the first Northern Ireland v. Ireland (Ireland Celts) Dodgeball match, as a team of players from the Waterford Dodgeball League will be representing Ireland for the first time in international competition.

UK Dodgeball rules are for teams to be 6-a-side, 3 dodgeballs in play, court size 24 feet wide and 56 feet long and matches are played as sets of 5 or 7 games, international matches are best-of-9 games; games last two minutes. UKDBA has rules in place to stop teams from slowing down the game and the pace is usually fast, furious and exciting, as teams have just two minutes to get out all the opposing players or finish the game with more players on court than their opponent.

We will be sending both a mens and womens team.

The Ireland Celts are currently looking for sponsorship and we can be contacted at irelandceltsdodgeball@gmail.com
