I am looking for info on terrestial tv and if the new digital service is already in place.
I need to know what type of ariel and set top box to source as i am getting different advise, also if the terrestial box from the uk is suitable for this country.

The service launched at the end of May, use the coverage checker to find your nearest transmitter which will decide which aerial group you will require.

List of approved products available here - http://www.saorview.ie/products-retailers/. UK terrestrial receivers may not be suitable but it depends on the particular model, best to go for an approved receiver.

UK SD set top boxes are not suitable, the HD ones work but have issues with channel numbering and the clock.
Best get a Saorview certified box such as the Walker.

No type ariel is suitable, neither the washing powder nor antique motorbike.
You need a UHF aerial of the correct group for your transmitter mounted outside. Don't even think of an indoor type.
