Missing a week in November of first year?

    Hello there :)

Well, it looks like I will be going to Belarus in November with the Belarussian Orphanage Project. Can't wait! biggrin.gif

However, I am (hopefully) starting first year of college this year and have been informed that I will miss important assessments around that time.

Is this true? Is there any way of catching up? And how do I approach informing the college about my week long absence?

    Thanks for your help smile.gif

In th emjority of course first year isn't a big deal, it just depends on what course you are doing.. Find out what exactly you will miss, unless its like a 20%+ assesment your fine.
Approach your head of dept and ask for advice

What course are you doing? Just find out well in advance what assessments there are. If they're essays or something see if you can do them early or hand them in a week later. If they're exams you might be able to get the weighting changed so that your Christmas exams or other assessments are worth more.
