pidgeons for pointer!!!

    was watching an episode of field sports britian last night and seen a lad using pidgeons hidden in the field for the purpose of training a young pointer steadiness and so forth , has anyone here done this and any pros or cons to this method. sorry if this sounds stupid

    I wouldn't be a fan of pigeons as they are not the desired game.
    If you want to plant a few birds for steadying you could rear or buy a few poult pheasants...
    Hard time of the year for pointer work as exposure to wild birds is your best bet...
