I tried the crap ton of salt in a sealed bag method but flies somehow still got in there :( I'm guessing there were eggs on the tail but I was under the impression the half ton of salt I put in would take care of that.

One of the lads here has said they soak them in white spirits.

Keep them in a plastic bag. Frozen stuff doesn't smell. You're best getting a chest freezer for your shed. It's good for alsorts, storing game, dog food ect ect

I'm guessing you could salt them, I'm sure someone on here could tell you how!

I have bin waiting for my .243 before I go lampung foxes. (getting restless now). When I get it I will do a video on how to skin the tail.
But for now. Just cut around tha base of the tail then get 2 small branches and clamp them around the tail where you cut it. Then with a firm sharp motion squeeze the sticks together and pull.
It should come off and leave all tho bone and flesh behind.

    Hi guys...

I've prepared a few like this and 2 years on, they're still in good condition...

Skin the tail away from the bone (as per the video earlier in this thread)

Drop it in a jar with some methylated spirits

    Leave for 4-6 weeks

Remove, drain and wash with household washing powder.

    Hang to dry.

The downside of this method is that the skin will harden as it dries out, but the fur/hair does not fall out, does not discolour and best of all, the brush doesn't smell...

    Good luck

    Rob
