Shared Accomadation in Dublin 4

Anyone got a reason why there is a lack of rooms available in Dublin at the moment? Have not lived up here in 4 years but accomadation wise it looks completely different. Years ago there were rooms going up every two mins! I presume it has something to do with the recession but what exactly that is I don't know? Thoughts?
