Had the unfortunate situation of dropping i phone down toilet, when it was retreived it had been submerged for 20 minutes. Now wont switch on even after trying all the usual tricks (rice hot press etc..)
question is .... is the i phone worthless now , can it ever be saved or any data retreived from it or has it now become an expensive paper weight.....

    opinions welcome

Unfortunately it's gone, just hope you have it backed up to iTunes recently and you will get all your numbers photos etc from there.

What about getting a bag of silica gel and sticking it in there?

I'd stick it on ebay if I was you, if you really need stuff off it, dismantle it and soak the logic board in isopropanoyl for a day or so and see how you get on

Apple have declared phones Beyond Economic Repair (BER) before, so its not guaranteed they would replace it for €211. Otherwise everyone would banjax their phone and get a brand new one for €211..........
