UPC feed to my Philips 32 inch: strange problem

About two weeks ago, I noticed that UPC digital feed into my TV is only showing in a square shape in the centre of the screen, with blank black space on the left and right. In other words, the UPC feed isn't translating the display into the widescreen format of the TV itself.

However when I switch on my DVD player, this very briefly shows in the same way, with blanks left and right, but then expands outwards properly as normal.

Anyone have an idea what the problem is? At first I thought it was the TV itself not picking up the UPC signal properly - but the fact that the DVD works ok suggests otherwise….. Could it be a problem with the UPC box itself?

Have you set the display to widescreen in the settings on the upc box?

You can usually adjust this by selecting:

Menu - TV Settings - Widescreen format

and toggling through the various options.
