Let's build something Amazing

We've so many people without work at the moment I was thinking it would be great to build something Amazing with people on welfare. A new wonder of the world to speak.

We've 200,000 guys sitting out there, if we put them to work for 12mts we could build the next great pyramid. The next hoover dam etc. Create a lot of jobs along the way and have a world class tourist attraction.

What do you think, anything we could build to attract people from all over the world.

Knock down every single ****ing building, going from town to town. Then rebuild, but replace them with nice looking buildings.

Close all the roads, then rebuild them. Making room for proper bus lanes. Build a proper public transport system.

Believe it or not OP Ireland is littered with the remains of these kinds of projects, they're called follies. Basically the social elite would sit in their country estate serene in the knowledge that while they begrudgingly had to give the poor Irish a few quid to feed themselves they were at least going to work the bastards, even if the project was utterly pointless. Needless to say they bred discontent and left a large number of pointless constructions that nobody, then or now, gives a **** about.

There might be ways of focusing the welfare population on something thats beneficial to them and us but i personally dont think forced labour of people who for the most are just stuck in a rut is the best option.

I didn't say anything about being forced, it's would be lads and lady's volunteering their time, even working people can muck in when their finished work. Its about building something or creating something we can all be proud of and have in place of century's to come.

I'd like to build a giant, gesticulating Mary Robinson with blinking eyes that light up that peer from left to right and arms that move up and down and a head that moves from side to side made from wax. And it has to look as crap as the wax models in the Dublin Wax Museum back in the day. I think it'd boost moral no end!

It would be cool if we procured the original blueprints for a Saturn V rocket have it built and launched an unmanned one.

We could charge tourists (who would flock to see it from around the world) and make it an annual event.
