    Hi all!

My renewal is due at the end of August.

I have just secured a job in Northern ireland whereby I have to move up there in the next few weeks.

I will be living up there for around 2 months and could be sent out to any of the clients sites (worldwide).

I plan to keep the car throughout. I need to travel up and back etc When I'm away without it, it will be in a drive in Dublin.

I'm not sure what way this would work with Insurance as I will not be permanently residing in Northern Ireland nor in Dublin. I will be living there 5 days a week and coming home on the weekends.

I'm just not sure what to say to insurance people and if I say anything at all?!

    Thanks

You must disclose where the vehicle will be kept for four nights of the week. If this is NI then you should disclose it.

The fall back of something happening and you not disclosing your vehicles location could end badly.

I got a quote with FBD and explained this to them. The girl said that FBD don't have a license to insure me when the car is in Northern Ireland :/

Will I have to go to certain insurance companies?

If my policy wasn't up for renewal would I still have to inform my insurance company that the car is up there for the majority of the week?

MugMugs might be able to correct me, but I think if you go to Northern Ireland you're essentially going "abroad" and therefore most ROI insures won't be able to cover you full time.
Most insurance companies will cover you for a certain amount of time (30 days usually but depends on the company)

I think you might have to shop around and ask them, I seem to remember one company allowing 90 days, which would suit you, but cannot be certain.

Seeing as Quinn operate in ROI and UK they might be able to help you out.

    Hi OP

AXA Aviva and Quinn Direct all operate in NI

    Thanks guys!

Got a quote through AA Ireland that included AA breakdown etc and they said that the policy would cover me whilst in Northern Ireland.

FBD should cover you once you explained tbh.I used to work for them and sold a number of policies including 1 to a guy that was going to be living in Oxford for 7 months, the only proviso is that they wouldnt transfer the insurance to a UK regged car, once it was on Irish plates it was grand.Anyway,yo got sorted so thats the most important thing!
