Posting Pictures Online

I recently purchased a CD on the street and then posed for a picture for the artist while I was holding the CD. When I got home, I found out that the artist has a Facebook page displaying pictures of those who bought the CD. The site also includes profanity and indications of the artist's drug use.

First, would I have any legal standing to have the pictures removed? This person did not indicate that the picture would be used online.

Second, I am a professional public employee. If I cannot have it removed, could that be used as a means of termination?

    Thanks

Have you tried just asking to have the picture taken down?

Your first step would be to politely ask for the image to be taken down. The vast majority of people will respect that and remove it.

You don't really have a legal right to have the image removed. If, at a push, you really weren't getting co-operation from the photographer/artist, then you could always try the Data Protection Commissioner. Not sure how effect that would be though.
