Another root canal problem

    Hi Guys,

I am aware there is a current thread with a similar problem but I don't want to hijack the OPs thread so here goes.

Over a year ago I started having issues with one of my teeth, realised it was cracked and dentist fixed it.
Roll on a few months, same tooth, pain again, dentist fixed up crack again.
Couple of months down the line, I had to have root canal done on this same tooth. 2 months later root canal had to be re-done.

Now over the past week I am having the worst throbbing pain in the tooth, I am popping nurofen plus like there's no tomorrow!! Eating is virtually impossible, and anything sweet just kills me completly!!

At the time of my root canals, there was never a mention of putting a crown on the tooth....I heard this for the first time ever after reading through a few threads here. However my dentist did tell me that if the 2nd root canal wasn't a success, then more than likely the tooth would have to be extracted.

SO finally my question is, what are my options then...is an implant the best way to go? And cost wise what am I looking at?

    Sorry for the long post!
