No sound from Ipod

Hi guys, I currently have no sound from my ipod.The songs plays away and I can hear the wheel clicking but not sound, the sound does come and go the odd time but no sound now as I type this. I rebooted it and restored it to factory setting on itunes but still no good. It's a 30gb ipod classic. Cheers.
