First Job Interviews This Week

Hi everyone. I'm a 20 year old student, and I've been working since I was 16. My previous jobs were in local shops in my village. All I had to do was go in and enquire about work, answer a few questions and I got the job.

Last week I handed out a few CVs. I've gotten called in the past few days and told that I have two job interviews next week. I've no experience whatsoever of such a formal process.

One interview is for a major coffee shop franchise. The other is for a large British designer's store. The interviews aren't on the same day but are close together in the same week.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips for these interviews. I think that I'm very experienced for my age, at least when compared to my peers. I'm just wondering has anyone got any tips for these interviews.

Obviously I'm planning to dress smartly, in dark jeans and a good shirt. I don't own a suit, do you think that could be taken against me? I'm combing through my CV for potential questions they might ask me and educating myself a little bit on both stores beyond my personal knowledge of them, such as what products they sell, their ethos, their typical customers.

I hope it's okay to politely tell the first interviewer that I am awaiting a second interview, to weigh up my options? I have been completely honest in my CV and approach, telling them both it's possible I'm going to college in September.

Any tips/good websites at all are greatly appreciated!!

EDIT: I've just seen the resources in the sticky at the top of the forum, they're great. Does anyone have any tips for the interview relating to the specific companies? Maybe I should identify 3 skills/qualities I think that are important for the job and highlight that I possess these in the interview?

i wouldnt tell them anything about your other interview. it's got nothing to do with them.

regarding your cv know what's on it. so if you say you are fluent in swahili (or whatever skills you have on it) be able to speak some swahili if asked.

there is some good info in here
