The Mahmood Al Zarooni-trained Rewilding (a son of racehorse Tiger Hill) broke a leg in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes yesterday and in doing so had to be put down due to the severe injury. Rewilding was the winner of 5 races and £2,455,418 worth of prize money.

Trainer John Gosden was one of the first on hand to take hold of the stricken Rewilding and tend to him. Gosden said: "I attended the horse with the lad. He just put his leg down wrong and the cannon-bone snapped clean in two. I've seen it happen with a horse galloping in a paddock and they feel nothing. The vet was on hand as we gave the horse a final munch of grass and he dealt with it immediately."

    R.I.P. Rewilding

Money isn't everything you know, some of us love the sport with or without betting! The whole race was surreal from the minute the stalls opened, very sad when we lose a horse to such a freak accident.

I always wondered does anyone actually watch horse racing and not bet on it.

    Why?
This horse was just running in the last straight, planted his leg wrong and it broke.

If we were to have a thread everytime a talented horse dies, we'd have to rename the forum.

If we had threads everytime a celebrity wasted a good life, well there would be calls for a sticky fairly quickly.

What happened yesterday has happened to horses running around paddocks at home, it didn't happen because it was horse racing.

Yes - plenty of people do, it's a sport and you can watch, enjoy and admire any sport without having to bet on it. I can easily watch it with or without betting
