Test passed, certificate received, provisional out of date, what's the story?

    Hi guys,

I passed my driving test yesterday and got the certificate to take to the motor tax office to get the full license.

However, I did not have time to make it to the office to get my pink license before I went away on holidays as they were closed.

The complication is that my learner's permit will be out of date by the time I get back, so is it possible to upgrade from a provisional to a full license with the certificate but with a provisional which is a few days expried?

I know the certificate is valid for 2 years, but does the learner's permit have to be in date too?

I just don't want to have to do my test again! Any help much appreciated and thanks very much in advance. Cheers
