Interesting idea/concept. Shame it looks like it will be a run of the mill, cheap action flick.

yeah , i like the premise of the fim myself.

got a decent cast too so could be fun.

smiled to myself when i saw "leonard" from big bang theory

Looks fairly run of the mill but it could be really good, and it's from the guy who made Gattaca and wrote The Truman Show so who knows.

I cant stand seeing Justin Timberlake in cinema, bad actor and he's highly annoying.

4 minutes for a cup of coffee?!?!

Very enjoyable action flick, although it did seem to be all about trying to convert the viewer to socialism :L If I agreed with all the political stuff I would probably call it an outstanding film

I thought it was decent yeh.
Would probably watch again. A bit messy in parts here and there but I don't think it deserves the bad reviews it's being getting.

    Amanda Seyfreid.....HALLLO!

I think he's decent, not really seen a film where he was bad that I can recall. I think he gets an unfair rep because he used to be a singer in a boyband.

I thought it was a very gimmicky premise, and there was nothing much beyond the gimmick to keep the movie going. Also very close to Logans run in the theme department. Very predictable and dull film. Probably the worst movie Cillian Murphy has been involved with. From the director of Gattaca I expected a lot more.

^ Agree! When I saw the trailer the first thing I thought was "Oh christ, they're re-making Logan's Run!". Think I'll give it a miss...

just back from seeing this and its a mixed bag.

the whole film is basically a thinly veilled metaphore for captialism.

take out being paid in time and put in being paid in money and you get the gist of things.

there are some great things in this and there is the guts of a brilliant film here, but its slaughterd by an almost micheal bay like pacing.

the first third is very enjoyable and the closing act on what would happen when everyone basically becomes rich is nicely done.

it just lags big time (pun intended :) ) in the middle.

in fact it fecking stops dead for a bit losing any momentum it had.

still all in all its not a film i wanted to leave at any point and the cast are great in their roles, timberlake is alright as an actor in my book and murphy makes a good likeable "bad guy" ( he's not really , hes just doing his job) and there are some lovely little things in it in regards to how people and society would react.

one of the nice things for instance is becasue everyone stops aging at 25 it really screws up the dating scene. is that girl with your man his wife, his daugher, his mother,or his grandmother?

the problem though is theres no real message in the film from the creators.

if your to take it at a glace it seems to imply we should all say "sod this" to our society , opt out of the system by becoming outlaws, and do a bonnie and clyde.

    but its really not clear.

still i have to give it kudos for at least trying to do something interesting. its been compared to logans run, and there ARE elements to that. but mostly its its own creation thats really telling us how were happy to **** each other over, to the extent of knowing people we turn away from will die, in order to stay in a system that offers the hope that we'll be top dog one day. even though you know the hope is practically non existant.

    6/10.

really should be a 5 TBH . but it gets the extra point for having the balls to try something thoughtprovoking.

ya might be better off waiting for the DVD and ironically for a flim called "in time" it really couldve done with being an hour and a bit long instead of closer to two.

Brilliant idea. But reminded me of the green lantern with massive holes in the plot. Shame.

its a republican film, its a democratic film, it a comunist film,

can someone explain why every film supposedly has some sort of political motives these days and more to the point why the hell us irish give a damn,

its a hollywood film, made to make money, if its trying to tell me something else bar what was on screen then they did a very bad job at conveying the message,

Yeah, saw it today. Can't think of too many redeeming features at all. Poor fare.

    Seen it.

I'd agree with constit. The ending made no sense for me.

Good idea in general. Worth a rental if your board.

Bit to Robin hood/bonnie and Clyde.

am I the only one who thinks of Logan's Run when I see this trailer? (Rewatched that recently... quality flick! :) )

This is the worst film I have ever seen. I'm not just saying that as a turn of phrase, I truly mean it. The only good thing about the film was the laugh it gave me and my mates in the pub afterwards, as we tore it apart.

I can't understand why the wimmin love him. He reminds me of that geek in your class in secondary school.

Actually reminds me of Screech from Saved By The Bell.

Such a wonderfully intriguing concept and I have to admit the film endeared itself to me despite missing plenty of beats - I'd have expected a more careful production from Andrew Niccol, who has plenty of experience with science fiction, Gattaca this ain't.

Cillian Murphy's cop was a missed opportunity, his character arc flat-lines throughout the film despite being given a nice hook when Timberlake's character gives him time to save his life. That could have lead to some deeper exploration of his job and his motives but it didn't. He was far for an out-and-out villain too, playing a straight-lace cop in essence, so they managed to find a unfortunate middle ground despite having a very capable actor at hand.

Vincent Kartheiser (of Mad Men fame) seemed like a lost chance too - more could have been done with his role as a power broker, and I don't mean making him into a pantomime villain. The villain in this film is the system itself, apart from an almost completely unnecessary gang of mobsters there's no truly despicable characters in the film.

Timerlake was perfectly believable in the lead role, but they jumped over his mother's death far too fast. Timerlake has certainly established himself as a 'real' actor now and I'd be happy to see him in more meaty roles going forward. Amanda Seyfried mostly played the token romantic interest and eye candy role but there was potential to do something more with her and her father (Vincent Kartheiser).

The film's run-time felt like the worst kind of sports highlight package, the type that lasts 50 minutes and neither satisfies you as a quick hit or gives you the ebb and flow of the full event. It felt like a film missing 30 minutes, with a little more fleshing out of the world and characters this would have been a mini gem of a film.

And despite all that it still was an enjoyable diversion with a fantastic conceit, just set your expectations correctly and you'll have more than enough fun to justify your time. Getit?

I thought the film discarded huge opportunities to explore any of the themes it could have explored. It was extremely disappointing in that regard.

I saw it a few months back and found it mediocre beyond belief. The concept was good but the execution was very poor. The entire film look and played out like an early 90s direct to video sci fi film with elements of Bonnie and Clyde thrown in for effect. Seyfried was absolutely terrible, she was a charisma vacuum and managed to irritate me every time she opened her mouth. Cillian Muprhy's cop could have been an interesting character and the relationship between him and Timberlake really should have been expanded upon but the writer/director took the easy way out and made him just another world weary cliched cop.

The gangster deciding to arm wrestle Trousersnake, his nemesis, instead of just popping him off when he had no quams earlier about killing recklessly.

The car crash and flip in a convertible; both Trousersnake and ladyfriend after 1 or 2 tumbles and not even a broken little finger, wolverine like powers of recovery.

The tough love cop playing it risky with his top-up card, defacto suicide and not a victory for Trousersnake.

Trousersnake and ladyfriend running, literally for their lives out of LA, when they could have A) taken some of the time for themselves that they Robin Hooded or B) taken a car or C) BOTH!

Trousersnake doing his best Clarke Kent disguise to get the private security job; "Black suit? Check. Sun Glasses? Check. My word I barely recognise myself."

Leonard drinking himself to oblivion was actually the best bit of the film.

Citizens that appear out of the walls on the streets and walk aimlessly toward nothing was rather creepy and they could've really played up on this and introduced some frights along the way, sure why not.

In saying all that was a great idea just terrible screenplay, script and seemed rushed.
    Would never watch it again.
